Card freeze

What a frozen card means, common reasons, and how to unfreeze it

🧊 Card freeze

If your card is frozen, it means that operations on it are temporarily restricted (payments may fail and some card actions may be unavailable).

🆘 How to unfreeze the card

Unfreezing is done through support:

Write to support — they can help you:

  • unfreeze the card, if possible;
  • 🔎 explain the exact reason for the freeze in your case.

⚠️ Common reasons for a freeze

Below are the most common reasons why a card may be frozen:

  1. More than 3 failed payments in a row
For example, repeated merchant declines, incorrect payment details, anti-fraud checks, or operation restrictions.

  2. 💸 Insufficient funds for the monthly maintenance fee
If your tariff includes maintenance and the balance is not enough to cover it.

  3. Insufficient funds to cover operation fees (balance went negative)
In some cases, the operation fee may be charged separately, and if the balance is insufficient it can go negative — that may also cause a freeze.

✅ Recommendations to reduce the risk of a freeze

  • ⛔ Avoid making many repeated payment attempts in a row; if a payment fails, check the balance, currency, and payment details, then try later or with a different merchant.
  • 💰 Keep a small reserve on the balance for fees and, if applicable, monthly maintenance.
  • 💬 If you are unsure why payments are being declined, contact support early instead of building up a long chain of failed attempts.
